Well, the map we have hanging in the gallery is also framed. It might be the original. One would have to check. But when I was talking with Mr. Cumming, he led me to believe that probably many copies were made of the original, to serve many different purposes.

I noticed in an episode recently that the map of the Ponderosa was framed and hanging behind Ben's desk in his study. It appears larger than dimensions I have read about; was it the original? The colors were very rich.

Mr Situ and Mr Liang have been inspired by different aspects of the American West into drawing and painting them after their living in the US. A whole lot of people in the rest of the world, who have never been to the US or been there only fleetingly, have been equally deeply inspired by the American West, its history, geography, its flora and fauna, and most of all its people, both its natives and the varied types of settlers who have come from all corners of the world to make a living there and their inter-relationships over time besides the attractions and travails of their day to day lives. As genre drawing and painting goes, the American West genre is in someways unique because of the uniqueness of its locale and people and their way of life besides being topical today with global concerns of ecology and environment, climate change, resource use vs pollution, settlement vs expropriation of natives in new lands, inter-racial relations and above all the timeless beauty of the land. As an artist of sorts, I have drawn and painted Western subjects during my younger days. I am now 63.
